Now Next Later Board
- A great tool to help those that struggle when transitioning from one activity to another. Transitions are often a key source of stress for many on the spectrum, and the concept of a Now, Next Later board is one that is widely used.
- Both board and symbols are made from plastic so they are incredible durable and hardwearing
- The board is A4 in size – which is a good size for both display on the wall and also to keep on the desk for easy access and reference. The symbols themselves are 4.5cm square, again easy to both see and handle.
- Includes 32 pre-printed plastic symbols of common activities. These include a range of different personal hygiene tasks, school activities, meals and leisure activities.
- We use hook and loop fasteners with our products, to ensure that the board is also compatible with your existing symbol library.
- Uses the same symbols as the Boardmaker software, which are the images that most schools and facilities rely on. This means that individuals are likely to already be familiar with the symbols used which can be extremely important when trying to encourage the use of the product. The images are Mayer-Johnson images, by Dynavox Mayer-Johnson, and are used with permission.
Increase the flexibility of your Now Next Later Board with one of our expansion packs. Both packs contain a film of self-adhesive, pre scored plastic film. The pre-printed Expansion Packs contains pre-printed images around a given theme. The blank symbols pack has a sheet of pre-scored plastic film, and images of your choosing can be printed using a regular laser printer or alternatively drawn on by hand with a permanent pen. Once the images are on the plastic film, simply remove from the backing paper and place onto the blank plastic symbol squares included in the pack.

Perfect for helping to smooth transitioning from one activity to another, this A4 board is the perfect size to be clearly visible when sat on a desk/on the wall, but also to easily to carry around to refer to.
With space for 3 symbols on the board at any one time, it visually labels the current activity (Now), the next activity (next), and then an activity that will be happening at a later stage (Later). Putting this extra activity at the end, which is usually something the person likes to do, helps act as a powerful motivator to help them to stay calm and focussed on the task in hand.
Transitioning from one activity to another can be extremely challenging for someone on the autistic spectrum, and this board provides them clear, visual prompts to allow them to prepare themselves adequately for the change in activity. If the current activity is not a preferred one, it can also serve as a visual reminder that it will not last forever and that it will soon be over.
Designed initially for autistic children, it has been used successfully with a wide age range and also alternative diagnoses such as learning disabilities, ADHD, Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and even dementia. It has also been used in pre-schools and other early years setting extremely successfully. Being made from plastic means that both the board and symbols are flexible, yet remain strong and extremely durable.
This product is part of the Autism Supplies and Developments range of visual communication aids, which were originally designed to help our own autistic son. With over 30 years professional and personal experience being with those on the spectrum, you can be sure that these products are well designed and helpful.

“Brilliant. As the parent of a special needs child this product has been so incredibly useful in the past 24 hours since it’s delivery as we desperately needed to extend our collection of PECs images. Slightly smaller than I was expecting, true, but just as useful. Made of hard plastic rather than our flimsy laminated existing symbols I expect they’ll last longer so worth the slightly higher prices. Will certainly be purchasing more in the near future.”

“Perfect for autistic or deaf children”
“Really good and wish I had known about it long time ago. My son understands know what will happen later and has less tantrums because of it. Lots of pics that are easy to use with the stickers and only thing that can improve it is if it could have a place on top so you can put the name on there as well as my son needs to see things with his name on and but other than that really happy how easy it is to use.”

“This is brilliant. Simple and eye catching. My autistic daughter responds well to visual schedules. Once she has learnt the schedule with the board she no longer needs the pictures. Definitely worth trying.”
